All actively ENROLLED students are expected to attend each class offered during the semester. Each class will be working toward a performance in our Christmas Gala/Spring Showcase or Musical Production; therefore, attendance is vital for the instructor and the students to be prepared to do their best. Absences are to be reported by E-MAIL (cpaa@ccanv.com) or TEXT (702-701-2324), as messages can’t always be relayed through the office or their CCA school teacher.

FOR ALL CPAA DISCIPLINE CLASSES TYKES - 8TH GRADE:

Communication concerning an absence is NON-NEGOTIABLE. An email and/or text the night before or the morning of MUST be provided before a student is absent from their CPAA class. FOR ALL MUSICAL THEATER STUDENTS 2ND - 8TH GRADE:

Communication concerning an absence is NON-NEGOTIABLE. An email and/or text the night before or the morning of MUST be provided before a student is absent from their CPAA class. If a student accumulates three (3)absences from class without communication or a valid reason, we will be in touch. An evaluation will be conducted to determine if the withdrawal process is necessary.

Three (3) absences could result in the student's role in the spring production being taken awake. It does the entire group an injustice when a classmate is absent, and in return, makes for an unsuccessful rehearsal for the group as a whole.

CPAA is incredibly understanding when it comes to students balancing their time between sports and other extracurriculars. We value your commitment to these activities and encourage open communication. However, when a student is absent without communication, it is a situation we cannot accept.

Absences are to be reported by email at cpaa@ccanv.com, as messages cannot always be relayed through the office.

SNACKS:
If your child is attending a CPAA class immediately after school or from PASS, please pack them an extra clean healthy snack and bottle of water. Students will be given a brief snack time before class begins and having an easy and healthy snack and water bottle on hand helps make this transition more efficient and timely.

CCA students who attend CPAA classes that begin during a time when a student is in Extended Care:

Tykes: Tykes students will be picked up from their classroom after their nap time. The tykes' teachers will get them dressed and ready for their class. Please pack your child their dance attire according to the dress code of the class they take in a dance bag or backpack. All clothes and shoes should be clearly labeled with the child’s first and last name. Unless picked up by their parents/guardian, they will be brought back to their classroom after our session is finished. Please inform your instructor if they will be going back to their classroom for aftercare or will be getting picked up directly from their CPAA class.

K – 4th: Students will be picked up from their classroom at the end of the school day by their CPAA instructor or from extended care and escorted to their class. The instructor will assist the student in changing into their CPAA class-required attire if necessary. Please have your child’s hair done appropriately for their CPAA class prior to bringing them to school on the day of their class if they are not able to do their own hair in accordance with the requirements for their hair. We understand that hair can become untidy during the school day and your instructor will be happy to touch up your child’s hair prior to class but will not be able to do their hair in its entirety due to time constraints. Parents should have all clothes and shoes clearly labeled with the child’s FIRST AND LAST name. Each parent should also provide a hairbrush, ponytail holders, bobby pins and hair spray.

5th – 8th: Students are expected to change into their CPAA required attire and report to their CPAA class on time. All CPAA classes will begin promptly as scheduled.

ETIQUETTE:

Classroom etiquette is of extreme importance. If a student is being disruptive, he or she will be asked to leave class and sent to extended care for that day without reimbursement or the option of making up the class. Extended care charges will also apply. When a student is disruptive, it takes time away from other students in the class who are also paying to take the class, so disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.

CPAA EXTENDED CARE:

CPAA offers extended care from 3:15 - 5:00 p.m. for those interested in classes that begin beyond the start time of 3:15 p.m. This option is free of charge and available for K—12th grade students ONLY. CPAA extended care allows our students to do their homework, change their attire, and eat a snack before class. Their teacher or teacher aide will drop students off at CPAA Extended Care, where they will be checked in by one of our CCA staff. They will be supervised and cared for throughout the time. CPAA instructors will then pick up students from CPAA extended care when it is time for their class to begin! PLEASE NOTE: EXTENDED CARE IS NOT OFFERED BEYOND 5:00 PM.
